A total of 565,523 sales and purchases were registered in Spanish territory, obtaining the highest figure in this activity since 2007, according to data published by the National Institute of Statistics (INE). These data represented the largest increase in this area and in the historical series recorded by the INE.

The year began in January with results that were still in line with 2020, but in July and September great changes were experienced, resulting in 50,258 and 53,410 home transfers through purchase and sale respectively. In the rest of the months of the year, the numbers that were recorded were also very positive, since in no month did the results fall below 45,000 purchase and sale operations.

During 2021, according to the INE, all autonomous communities generated increases in sales in their territory. Although, if you are more specific, there were 3 provinces throughout Spain in which the number of sales increased considerably. Below, we reveal the Top 3 provinces in which the most purchase and sale operations were closed in the last quarter of 2021.

Madrid
Madrid leads the Top 3 provinces with the most purchases and sales in Spain with results of 18,572 operations , according to data from the Fourth Quarter of Registry Statistics carried out by Registrars of Spain. The capital of Spain is the most attractive for real estate investors. Also, it has been the one that has suffered the least from the Covid-19 crisis in real estate terms.

Barcelona
The province in which the capital of Catalonia is located is already a regular in this Top 3. This province has one of the reference urban centers in Spain. Furthermore, Barcelona is one of the provincial capitals most chosen by buyers to invest in housing.



During the last quarter of 2021, a total of 14,021 purchase and sale operations were registered , also according to the same report prepared by Registrars of Spain.

Alicante
In the final stretch of 2021, Alicante was the third of the provinces with the most sales in all of Spain. Its result was 10,140 closed operations , also, according to data from the same institution and the same period of the year.

This province is the territory where there is the most investment by foreigners in Spain and in which non-residents choose the homes to settle in our country.
